The Adopted Child's Core and Primary Psychological Injury
The adoptee's focus and need to explore the physical and psychological implications of their own primary abandonment experience. The Adoptee's Primary Physiological abandonment experience, Narcissistic Wounding that is the consistent psychological theme throughout the Lives of Adopted children. The abandoned child, the adopted child through the adopted adolescent child, from adulthood and throughout older adulthood abandonment is the recurring insult originating at birth that grows in time. The abandonment experience repeats itself in the cycles and replication process that adoptee's create over and over again. Each time hoping to gain some insight that previously was not understood or doing what comes naturally in replicating our pre-verbal traumatic experiences in everyday life without the knowledge of why we do this. Human beings that were subjected to traumatic events before the development of cognitive awareness or language development do not have the capacity to process what happened to them. The psychological drive to recreate the traumatic event is a natural response to assaulting actions, perpetrated against the innocent child that can not comprehend why. The primitive reactions to the assault and the brain's encoding and processing of that event is stored as the bad experience to be avoided in the future. Yet the trauma is not understood cognitively so the trauma remains a consistent part of the life experience that the human psyche must replicate and recreate as a reflex to not understanding or mentally processing what happened in the past. Even with the new knowledge and complete understanding of the trauma event, the brain can not un-train itself from forty or more years of doing the same unconscious, autonomic task over and over. We can recognize the behavior and change it when necessary as the original trauma is coded and the years of compensating, defense mechanisms and fear can not be erased, as the behaviors, adaptions and thoughts are what constitute our primitive adaptive history of psychological survival.
To facilitate the cognitive understanding, awareness of adoptee issues and informed adoptee knowledge In the adopted child, adult adoptee and adopted person we must educate ourselves on the basic structures within psychodynamics, psychological behavior and terminology. Then the adoptee can begin to form awareness and opinions based on behavior principles that are unique to the adoptee's life and challenges.
We adoptee's are intentionally broken, assaulted and expected to ignore, forget & deny self-actualization, all to play the role of the adopted child and at the end of our sentence we must face the enormous task of sifting through the decades of baggage that we were previously supposed to deny the existence of.
