February 25, 2013. Preparing for Adoption Costs. The Wall Street Journal has an illuminating article about the costs (expected and unexpected) of adoption. Financial adviser Christopher Parr, "recommends clients budget for costs to be at least 20% higher than they originally estimated," while attorney Mark McDermott suggests that prospective adoptive parents prepare a realistic budget.
